Laura’s Specialties

  • Understanding Family Dynamics

Family relationships shape how we see ourselves, connect with others, and respond to stress throughout our lives. Laura understands that family dynamics are complex, influenced by early attachment experiences, life transitions, and the emotional patterns that develop over time. These dynamics can show up as communication breakdowns, recurring conflict, anxiety, or feelings of disconnection, guilt, or overwhelm.

With a compassionate, strength-based, and trauma-informed approach, Laura supports individuals, teens, couples, and families in exploring how relational patterns impact emotional well-being. Through insight-oriented work, she helps clients recognize how past experiences and family roles continue to influence present relationships, while creating space for new ways of relating that feel safer, more balanced, and more authentic.

Drawing on over 20 years of experience supporting families through stress, trauma, and change, Laura offers a non-judgmental and collaborative environment where clients can process difficult emotions, strengthen communication, and build healthier connections. Integrating Emotionally Focused Therapy, attachment-based principles, and practical coping strategies, Laura helps families and individuals move toward greater understanding, resilience, and connection—at a pace that feels right for them.

  • Tools for Managing Anxiety, Depression, and Stress

Anxiety, depression, and chronic stress can feel overwhelming, especially when worries become persistent, emotions feel heavy, or daily demands begin to feel unmanageable. Laura understands that these experiences often exist alongside life transitions, relational stress, grief, or trauma, and that no two people experience them in the same way.

Using a strength-based, neuro-affirming, and trauma-informed approach, Laura supports individuals and teens in developing practical tools to manage anxious thoughts, low mood, and emotional overwhelm. She helps clients identify patterns that contribute to distress—such as cycles of worry, avoidance, or intrusive thoughts—while building coping strategies that support emotional regulation, resilience, and self-compassion.

Drawing from evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, psychoeducation, and solution-focused strategies, Laura works collaboratively with clients to create personalized approaches that feel realistic and sustainable. Therapy offers a supportive space to better understand emotional experiences, strengthen coping skills, and move toward greater balance, clarity, and confidence in daily life.

  • Processing Grief and Strong Emotions

Grief and intense emotional experiences can feel overwhelming and isolating, often affecting mood, relationships, and day-to-day functioning. Whether connected to loss, major life changes, or ongoing stress, strong emotions can be difficult to make sense of and may surface in unexpected ways. Laura understands that these experiences are deeply personal and that healing unfolds at a unique pace for each individual.

Laura offers a compassionate, person-centered space where individuals, teens, and families can explore grief and strong emotions without judgment. She supports clients in understanding emotional patterns, managing distress, and developing healthier ways to cope with sadness, anger, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm. Through insight-oriented and attachment-based exploration, Laura helps clients make meaning of their experiences while fostering emotional awareness and self-compassion.

With over 20 years of experience supporting individuals and families through loss and emotional challenges, Laura integrates evidence-based approaches including Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, psychoeducation, and solution-focused strategies. Therapy focuses on building emotional resilience, strengthening coping skills, and supporting clients as they move forward with greater clarity, balance, and connection.

  • Healing and Growth During Life Transitions

Life transitions—whether expected or unexpected—can bring uncertainty, stress, and a sense of emotional disruption. Changes such as shifting family roles, academic or career transitions, relationship changes, or periods of personal growth can challenge one’s sense of stability and identity. Laura understands that even positive changes can feel overwhelming and may bring up complex emotions.

Laura offers a supportive, collaborative space where individuals, teens, couples, and families can explore the emotional impact of life transitions at their own pace. Using a strength-based and person-centered approach, she helps clients reflect on past experiences, clarify values, and build practical coping strategies to navigate change with greater confidence and self-compassion. Therapy supports clients in managing anxiety, low mood, or emotional uncertainty while fostering resilience and adaptability.

With over 20 years of experience supporting individuals and families through change, Laura integrates evidence-based approaches including Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, psychoeducation, and solution-focused strategies. Together, Laura and her clients co-create a roadmap that honours where they have been and supports meaningful growth, clarity, and connection as they move forward.

  • Understanding Neurodivergence

Neurodivergence shapes how individuals experience the world, process information, regulate emotions, and navigate relationships. For many individuals and families, this can bring both strengths and challenges, particularly during times of transition, stress, or increased expectations. Laura understands that neurodivergence is not something to be “fixed,” but rather understood, supported, and honoured.

Laura takes a neuro-affirming, strength-based approach that supports individuals, teens, and families in better understanding their unique needs, communication styles, and emotional experiences. She helps clients make sense of patterns related to attention, sensory processing, emotional regulation, and social connection, while developing practical strategies that support daily functioning, self-advocacy, and confidence.

With over 20 years of experience working alongside neurodivergent individuals and their families, Laura integrates evidence-based approaches including Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, psychoeducation, and solution-focused strategies. Therapy focuses on fostering self-compassion, strengthening coping skills, and supporting clients in building environments and relationships that allow them to thrive as they are.
