Meet Claire
Claire is registered psychotherapist, RSSW, with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, specializing in Animal-Assisted Therapy in Counselling (AAT-C). Claire works alongside her canine working partner, Faith, integrating AAT-C and Canine Assisted Intervention (CAI) into both individual psychotherapy and community outreach programming. Together, Claire and Faith use the human-animal connection to support emotional regulation, engagement, connection, and a sense of safety within the therapeutic process.
Claire’s approach to therapy is person-centred, relational, and trauma-informed. She believes therapy should meet people where they are, recognizing that each person brings their own experiences, strengths, challenges, and goals into the therapeutic space. Claire focuses on building a strong therapeutic relationship while helping clients develop insight, understand patterns, and build practical tools that support meaningful change.
Claire also brings a strong understanding of military culture and the unique realities of military life. Having spent over 20 years as a military spouse, she understands the impact that deployments, postings, prolonged separations, reintegration, transitions, and the unpredictability of military life can have on members, Veterans, spouses, and families. This lived experience provides an additional layer of cultural competence in working with the military and Veteran community, including individuals and families navigating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Operational Stress Injuries (OSI).
Claire's work with Faith extends beyond the traditional therapy office. Through AAT-C and CAI, they participate in community outreach, psychoeducation, group programming, and partnerships that bring therapeutic support into the spaces where people live, work, train, and connect. Claire believes the possibilities for AAT-C and CAI extend far beyond traditional one-on-one therapy, creating opportunities to make trauma-informed mental health support more accessible, relational, and connected to the community.
